Keanu Sinnaeve

Keanu Sinnaeve (born 1996) is a certified modern/contemporary dancer, graduated from the Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg, the Netherlands. He specialized in modern dance, more specifically floorwork.

Background:

During his training Keanu was taught by several teachers, each with their own perspective on the modern dance world: Ree Esterhuizen, Marc Van Loon, Mia Spil, Patricia van Deutekom, Tony Vezich, Margereth Berkhout-Van Ireland, Arthur Zuravlov, Sari Hyvako, Francesco Barba, Ricardo Ambrosio, Sara Wictorvicz, John Wisman and many guest teachers. He was trained to be a professional, theatrical dancer who could find his way with choreography. But that was not enough for him, and he still ached for much more.

To specialize further, Keanu took several internships and workshops abroad. He went to the United Kingdom to specialize in Dynamics, Rythm and Texture, a style developed by Sade and Kristina Alleyne. He also traveled to Italy for classes by Helder Seabra, to Spain for the floorwork festival "Del Tebre Dansa," where he worked out "Puzzlework" with Anton Lachky and others. In Sweden, he went after Sabrina Philip for intensive classes in commercial modern. He was selected to attend the 'Winder Gaga Intensive' in Israel, where he immersed himself in the emerging style 'Gaga'. He was also selected to attend the 'One body, One career: Summer Intensive' in Canada, where he immersed himself in yet another new style: countertechnique, developed by Anouk van Dijk.

As a developed dancer, Keanu began teaching. (He also received teacher training in Tilburg.) In this, he takes everything he has collected so far in his career to pass on to his students. That's why you can't put one name on his style. He collected his teaching material from all over the world and created his own style around it. This makes for a unique way of moving, with ballet and modern at the base.

To pass these techniques on to the professional dance world, Keanu started his own dance company BASTA in 2019. This brings together dancers from all over Belgium under Keanu's artistic direction. In their first year of existence, the company already won first prize at Kamata Jazz, a feat no one had managed before. With BASTA. Keanu hopes to soon create his own dance performance.

Keanu himself is also still on stage at home and abroad. He has already performed in countries such as Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, India, Spain, Italy, Sweden... He is engaged with Vloeistof in Tilburg, the Netherlands with whom he still performs regularly. He is also a regular dancer with Dansnest in Breda. Also with them he performs regularly throughout the year. Furthermore, Keanu dances commercially as a dancer with Showcase Entertainment by Tommy Gryson, with whom he performs throughout the year.

In short, Keanu is an ideal mix of everything that is currently needed to make it in the dance world: a trained dancer, an experienced teacher, an inspired choreographer.
