Valerie Maene

Valerie is an all-round dancer, teacher and choreographer, but since 2014 she focuses entirely on Jamaican Dancehall culture. She started teaching in 2010 at the age of 18, and now teaches in various dance schools all over Flanders. She is also often asked for national and international workshops. Since 2015, 2016 she also often performs at festivals with well-known DJs, just think of Tomorrowland, Reggae Geel, Gentse Feesten, Crammerock, Bomboclat Festival,… She also choreographs for competition teams and organizes many Dancehall workshops herself. In 2018 she became vice Belgian Dancehall Queen, and she also founded her own Dancehall crew 'Nuff Luvv'. In 2020 they achieved 2nd place at the 'Groove' competition in Brussels, an annual international dancehall/ragga competition, and also do many performances with the well-known Antwerp Dancehall DJ duo 'Soulshakers', as well as with 'Team Damp'. She also tries to focus on dancehall battles, and recently won the Ginger Roots battle in Brussels. Her goal is to clearly convey her passion and knowledge about Dancehall culture to everyone and to shake Flanders up what Dancehall is all about.
